Design Inspiration

Our halls are designed to evoke a sense of home and community for our students.

We’ve combined our love for modern and contemporary design with aspects of Singapore’s multi-cultural society. And because we dislike anything generic or cookie-cutter, we’ve gone the extra mile to add personal touches to each room so you can come back to a place where you’ll truly feel at home. Each room is designed according to a specific theme which tells its own story, giving you a glimpse into Singapore’s heart and soul while discovering the city’s storied past.

So please make yourself at home, because we’re your cure for homesickness 😉

Our History

Founded in 1984, Homestead first began as a furniture retailer catering to the burgeoning middle class living in Singapore HDB flats. In just a few years, it achieved household name status along with Courts and Ikea.

With the growing middle class of the 1990s aspiring to live in private condominiums, Homestead started specialising in interior design to cater to the needs of this segment. This soon became Homestead’s main focus after the decision to close its retail business was made, due to the recession.

Recognising the shortage of affordable short-term accommodation in Singapore, Homestead used its interior design expertise to convert privately-owned apartments into boutique serviced apartments in 2005. Buoyed by the success of this concept, the boutique serviced apartment business was officially launched under the Residences by Homestead brand in 2007.

In 2013, Homestead’s expertise in furnishing apartments was re-imagined with Homestead Rental Home Solutions, a concept which helps landlords quickly achieve higher rental yields for their rental apartments with a small investment.
